Paxata ranked top champion in bloor self-service data prep 2015 market study with highest innovation & overall scores
Paxata Leads the Pack Among Full Field of Competitors Including Alteryx, ClearStory Data, IBM, Informatica, Progress, Tamr and Trifacta
San Jose, CA – June 2, 2015 – Paxata, provider of the first purpose-built Adaptive Data Preparation(TM) application and platform, today announced that it was named the overall industry-leading "Champion", earning the highest rankings among data preparation providers in an independent study conducted by Bloor Research.
"The key ingredient of data preparation platforms is their ability to provide self-service capabilities that allow knowledgeable users, who are not IT experts, to combine, transform and cleanse relevant data prior to analysis," said Philip Howard, Research Director, Data Management, at Bloor Research. "From a field of major vendors that includes veterans and relatively new start-ups, Paxata attained the 'Champion' position."
The Self-Service Data Preparation 2015 Market Update, which is available for download here, was independently conducted by Bloor Research and included eight vendors in the comprehensive study: Alteryx, ClearStory Data, IBM, Informatica, Paxata, Progress, Tamr and Trifacta.
"We couldn't be more pleased with the progress we've made to date - from launching the first purpose-built Adaptive Data Preparation application and platform, creating the data prep category as a whole, and rapidly amassing over 45 paying customers who derive value from our solution every day," said Paxata CEO and Co-founder Prakash Nanduri. "Unsolicited industry validation from reputable industry experts like Gartner, Forrester, and now Bloor Research, continues to underscore our leadership position, being first to market with innovation, first to value with customer success - all combined with expertly balanced operational efficiency."
As depicted in the graphic below, vendors with the highest scores were placed nearest the center. The Bloor analysts then defined a benchmark score for a domain leading company from their overall ratings and all those above that were placed in the Champions segment. Those that remain were placed in the Innovator segment if their innovation rating was over 2.5 and Challenger if it was less than 2.5. The exact position in each segment is calculated based on the combined innovation and overall score. In a related Bloor Research Spotlight report titled Self-Service Data Preparation, Bloor analysts stressed the point that, "In practice there are products focused on end users, there are products targeted at data scientists, there are some whose strengths are more in the area of unification and there are others that emphasize wrangling." Several of the other vendors in the report, such as those in the graphic above, were characterized as "...data unification platforms in that the focus is on unifying large numbers of different data sets more than on the actual blending of data" and "lacks some data quality functionality."
Paxata, on the other hand, was developed from the ground up to be an enterprise-class data preparation tool set and is currently being used by over 45 on-premise and cloud customers with stringent data quality and security requirements. Paxata aggressively invests in R&D to ensure that every customer enjoys a unified experience of integration, quality, governance, and real-time collaboration for ultimate data interactivity that can be put into production environments today.
