Some weeks ago, we introduced the new Quora Sessions
. Sessions take a different approach to our mission to grow and share the world's knowledge by starting with an expert and inviting users to ask relevant and interesting questions. Since that announcement we have had politicians, scientists, writers, and company executives provide their insights on all sorts of questions. At this point, we thought it would be interesting to have a number of sessions focused on a single topic.
And, what better topic to start than Machine Learning? Machine learning is without doubt one of the hottest technologies of our days with many research advances such as Deep Learning being realized in the past couple of years, and many companies focusing their attention and resources on it. We at Quora have also talked at length
about how important this technology is for our product. Besides, Quora has a very active community on this topic
, with over 500k followers and 20k questions.
I am therefore very excited to announce the start of this Quora Sessions Series on Machine Learning. We will be starting with Yoshua Bengio
, professor at the University of Montreal and one of the fathers of Deep Learning. We are still working on finalizing the list of guests, but we can already tease the interest of all those ML enthusiasts by announcing some of the people that have already confirmed. These include Andrew Ng
(Baidu/Stanford), Pedro Domingos
(U. Washington), Thorsten Joachims
(Cornell University), Kevin Murphy
(Google), Isabelle Guyon
(Chalearn/NYU, NIPS 2016), and Alex Smola
We are looking forward to your questions and participation, and are really excited to contribute to growing the knowledge on such a fascinating area.
