A Data Science Central Community
Unearthed, an Australian-based energy and resources open innovation platform, is launching an international crowdsourcing competition that calls for geologists, data scientists and mining professionals to develop ground-breaking ideas about mineral exploration. Participants from around the globe can enter the 10-week Explorer Challenge for a chance to win A$1 million and have their model tested in real life.
Competitors – all of whom stand a chance of affecting real, positive change throughout the mining industry – will have access to more than 1TB of project data from OZ Minerals' Mount Woods site in South Australia. To enter, participants can sign up here. They can also check out a humorous video that asks geoscientists and data scientists what they really think of each other here.
